Philippe Sollers, born near Bordeaux in 1936, is a novelist, essayist, biographer, editor, critic, and cofounder and editor of the journal Tel Quel and founder and editor of L’Infini. His novel Trésor d’amour, published in 2011, reads like an essay on the French novelist Stendhal. Sollers’s observations bring new insight into the nineteenth-century author’s works.
Translator Armine Kotin Mortimer has published translated excerpts from Philippe Sollers’s books in 3:AM Magazine and The Brooklyn Rail. She is the
author of seven books and many articles of literary criticism, and her complete translations of Sollers’s Mysterious Mozart and Casanova the Irresistible were published by the University of Illinois Press. She is currently seeking publishers for translations of several
contemporary French novels.
