After Math
poetry

There’s only time
between other things: birth,
death, chest compressions.

Negative space of space’s
face cast
in matte-black glass.

Today I found my epitaph

redacted by last
season’s weeds

skewers through
which I read

fallen leaves
ground beneath me.

There’s only one night—

sun broken
in on it, eyes
asterisk dark

stars fall
ground-up.

I don’t think
I see too much.
