Once, you believed

    your body was profane—

a cuss thing to be hushed
only to lovers in dim light.

The color of shame is silence
against wild flame. It is surfacing
blood vessels along cheeks and
throat in quiet surge.

Vessels that rise along nerves
across your breasts, spine,
and you collapse like  [...]
